Barbados ranked 11th in the world for best wifi

Barbados has been ranked 11th in the world in a recent survey that assessed the ‘best public WiFi’. This is according to Rotten, in an annual survey that assesses both the speed and quality of public hot-spots. Barbados was ranked above such wealthy countries as Canada, Finland and Sweden but below Lithuania, Estonia, Singapore, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Ireland, Belgium and Romania.

Celeste Foster, CEO of the Barbados Entrepreneurship Foundation (BEF), notes that one of the very first initiatives of the BEF was to ensure 100% island-wide WiFi coverage with a vision of making Barbados # 1 in the world for free WiFi coverage. When the BEF started its efforts in this respect, WiFi coverage stood at just 10%. Ms. Foster is proud of the achievements of Barbados and the organization and stated, “Let’s turn this dream into a reality by 2017!” with regards to the organization’s Wi-Fi vision.
